Belushi often tweeted about the need for cannabis reform in the United States and his own experience working on a 93-acre potted farm in Oregon.
Earlier this year, a television series, Growing Belushi, debuted on Discovery. The series follows Belushi’s life on the farm. In the first episode, Belushi talks about his brother John, who died of an accidental heroin and cocaine overdose in 1982, and his belief that cannabis could have saved his life.
“That’s why I became a cannabis farmer,” Belushi tweeted in June. “To give this drug to people who need it. No family should go through the trauma of losing a loved one to opioids. “
Belushi previously said that the farm’s goal is simply to break even as cannabis is “for the common good.”
